The primary objective of Rummy is to be the first player to dispose of all your cards by forming them into valid combinations, known as Sets(or Groups) and Sequences(or Runs).
To begin, two standard deck of 52 cards will be thoroughly shuffled and the 13 cards will be dealt to each players. Aces (A), Kings (K), Queens (Q) and Jacks (J) are the highest value cards. All other cards are valued at their numerical values.
Wild cards are called 'Jokers'. There are two types of Jokers, 'Wild Jokers' (randomly selected cards) and 'Printed Jokers'.
After cards are dealt, the remaining cards are placed face-down. This is where players draw a card when they don't want the one on top of the open pile.
To start, the top card of the closed deck is flipped face-up next to it. During the game, players can pick card from Open pile if face-up card helps them to complete a set or sequence and players must discard one card to this pile at the end of every turn.
A sequence consists of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit ( 5♦, 6♦, 7♦). An Ace can be "low" (A-2-3), "high" (Q-K-A), or both. Sequence can use a Joker to substitute for a missing card. However, A Pure Sequence is one made without a Joker.
A set consists of three or four cards of the same rank, but they must be different suits ( 9♥, 9♠, 9♣). You cannot have two cards of the same suit in a single set. For example, (9♥, 9♥, 9♣) is invalid because the heart is repeated. Sets can use Joker to substitute for a missing card.
The player at the bottom-right usually goes first. On your turn, you must take the top card from either the Stock Pile (if you want a mystery card) or the Open Pile (if the face-up card helps you complete a set or sequence). To end your turn, you must choose one card from your hand and place it face-up on the Open Pile.
A hand is only valid if it includes at least one Pure Sequence. The remaining cards must be arranged into valid sets or sequences. To finish the game, you must discard your 14th card to declare your hand.
